Food For Thought

1 Corinthians 1: 26 - 31

Text: "You did not choose me; I chose you..." What a powerful statement! All my life, I had thought that I was a Christian because that was what I wanted to be.

I had read John 15 many times. Then, while studying the passage again, my eyes were opened. The message is clear. If I invite Him into my life as my personal saviour, my salvation is assured. I don't have to do anything to earn God's love. His love is unconditional. Freely, I am loved. Freely, I am chosen. I am the fruit of His creation, the apple of His eye. How wonderful is that?

God does not impose Himself upon us. He has given us free will. He gives us the right to choose. The Scripture reveals the very heart of God.

Isn't it a privilege? Isn't it astonishing? Yes - I chose to be a Christian but not before God first chose me!

Prayer: Lord, we thank you for choosing us to be your people. Give us a listening ear, O Lord, that we might be sensitive to your voice and learn to live in Christ's victory, in the knowledge of God's eternal love. Amen.

Thought: We are God's family.
